NES Staffing – NES Employment Solutions

This company looks legit and they have listings on Monster, but I didn’t have a good feeling about them. Something about them just screamed SCAM to me.

Here is an article from Ripoff Report detailing one person’s experience with them.
Report: NES Staffing – NES Employment Solutions

Almost the instant I submitted the application page my phone rang. It was a woman. The background noise indicated a busy call center. She said that she was with the academic advising center. I asked a series of questions designed to find out which school or company she represents, but she just kept repeating that she was with the ‘academic advising center’. She stated she was responding to my request for information on continuing my education. By her admission, her call was in response to the job application I had just submitted. Despite the fact my application clearly indicated I already have a BA and that I am pursuing an MA, she stated she was unaware of those facts. I informed her that since I am currently enrolled in an advanced degree program, I am not interested in receiving any further calls regarding ‘continuing my education’, only calls for part-time employment.

In order to ensure that my wishes were perfectly clear, I called the company number listed on their website. Nothing on the phone menu indicated that they were anything but an employment agency. I was prompted to leave a message. In my message I reiterated that I have a BA, I am pursuing an MA, and that I am only interested in being contacted by them regarding legitimate job openings in my area.

Perhaps 15 minutes later I received a return phone call from NES. At no time during the call did he assure me that my wishes would be honored. Instead he wanted to explain their full range of services, and how their company works (e.g. essentially they are a clearing house that will forward my resume to interested recruiters), and especially how they can help me obtain a better job by ‘continuing my education’. Again, despite the fact that my educational background was listed on my application and my resume, had been discussed in my conversation with the woman from the ‘academic advising center’, and was the primary topic of my voice mail message, this man did not appear to know anything about it. So, I told him that I have a BA, that I am almost finished with my MA, and that I did not want to be contacted about ‘continuing my education.’ He stated that he just wanted to explain the misunderstanding. I told him that I did not need an explanation. I did not even need a return phone call. I just needed them to comply with my wishes.

It has only been 24 hrs. since I submitted my ‘job application’. I have received multiple emails from NES, and the HR Department apparently about my application with NES. The HR Department wants me to run a credit report on myself, for a fee.

Well, the multiple phone calls, the credit report – those are definite red flags.  Now, I didn’t find a lot on them that was negative, but what I do see is many of the same jobs with the same pay listed all over the country. Makes you wonder at the very least.

  1. Do not waste your time with NES; they are nothing more than a cottage industry that has arisen out of the current unemployment crisis. They know people are desperately seeking employment and they use your information to refer you to educational institutions instead of jobs. I have a BA and I was not referred to a single management position they listed. When I applied directly to other jobs not listed by NES I got interviews and finally a job. If you watch closely, you will see NES hijacks jobs listed on other sites like Indeed and Monster. There need to be laws that protect job seekers from vultures like NES, they suck out peoples hope!
