Are you happy with your library space? I know some people are. BUT when I walk into a library that is mine, I always see something else, something more exciting.
I’ve got to say that this vision may be an enhancing feature for the library, but it has exhausted me on more than one occasion. Visualizing something else for a very large space with heavy furniture is not so hard, but the implementation of that dream can be cumbersome, time consuming, and, yes, exhausting.
In my first two libraries, I made some mental notes and jumped right in to the process. I didn’t document at all. NOT smart on my part. It’s hard to reflect when you can’t remember what you are looking back on. At Old Town, I took pictures and kept a notebook.
I need to update this slide deck (it’s from BOY in 2017), but it will give you a good idea of what I did.
