Cooks ready to turn up heat at Blue Ridge BBQ Festival
Teams are firing up the grills and ready to put their cooking skills to the test in the annual Blue Ridge BBQ & Music Festival.
More than 80 contestants from across the country are contending for bragging rights and the chance to be crowned the North Carolina State Barbecue champion. To become the grand champion, they have to show off their skills in chicken, pork ribs, pork and beef brisket. Other categories include whole hog, anything but hog and dessert.
I love BBQ – but it’s been tough in NC. I like sauces that are red, thick, and spicy and brisket is my preferred meat. BUT those ribs on that grill – they do look yummy!
